Growing And Giving Back
Place of Promise encourages residents to take various opportunities to grow. With the support of Place of Promise, individuals can pursue degrees at U Mass Lowell or Middlesex Community College. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and to explore a variety of career and educational resources throughout the community and greater Boston area. Others pursue a G.E.D, job training, or certificate training.
We believe that learning to give is integral to growing. As residents heal, grow, and mature, they are often able to take on new roles at Place of Promise that allow them to give back as much as they receive. Several staff and board members originally came to Place of Promise as residents. We are always ready to come to a church service or gathering to share our blessings with those who give to us.
Our work program provides volunteer opportunities through which an individual can gain skills for future employment. In good weather, a group of our current residents are offering their services as landscapers, painters, and general handymen. Please contact the office if you have any tasks that they could complete for you!
