Who We Are

Our History

In response, we have increased staff and made investments in our residential homes and will soon be able to able to double the number served.
Today, Place of Promise operates four long-term adult residential homes, programming for children elementary through high school, and training and internships for churches, ministries, and the next generation of ministry leadership.
Place of Promise was founded in 1994 with the opening of the first residential home in Dorchester, a poor, inner-city section of Boston, Massachusetts. In order to meet the growing need for our faith-based recovery program, Place of Promise moved to Lowell in 2000 and continued to expand.
Over the last several years, with the explosion of the opioid drug crisis, referrals to Place of Promise’s Christ-centered recovery program have skyrocketed.

Our Staff

The Place of Promise staff comes from a diverse set of cultures, church denominations, and traditions. As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe that every person has value because every person is made in the image of God.
